Technical Sales Representative; Sales Engineer – Outside Sales

Locations: Northern New Jersey/New York Region Market

About the Position:

Sentinel Process Systems is seeking an organized technical sales professional to strengthen relationships with customers and stakeholders by developing strong and in depth product and market knowledge. You will be representing our industry respected manufacturers and assist them in providing technical product sales, service and support. You will be working with Sentinel’s partners, third party providers, and company team members to obtain new business in order to meet revenue goals. Job Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate has experience selling to the High Purity, Pharmaceutical, or Biotech industries. We want candidates who can use their selling skills to develop deep customer relationships that result in Sentinel being viewed as a strategic partner and helping customers to improve their operations and facilities.


  • Meet and exceed sales and revenue targets.
  • Strengthen existing relationship with customers and stakeholders by developing strong and in-depth product and market knowledge as well as being familiar with competitive products.
  • Expand Sentinel’s market share (revenue and profitability) by further product penetration with existing customers as well as with new customer sales.
  • Develop a sales pipeline using the telephone, mailings, e-mail, personal networking, and cold calling to identify new business and to engage prospects.
  • Work toward an expert understanding of Sentinel’s technical products and services while being proficient at convincing customers to use them.
  • Be able to clearly and concisely communicate ideas in a variety of settings with an ability to adjust the message to match the audience and environment.
  • Quickly identify and connect with the appropriate decision maker(s) to develop rapport, build trust, and further engage them.
  • Collaborate with teammates and management to improve the sales process and success of the delivery of Sentinel’s products, and services.
  • Use of Sentinel’s CRM system to maintain contacts, appointments, activities and to manage sales opportunities through all stages of the sales cycle from identification to the close.


Preferred Experience and Skills: (We will train the right candidate)

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering or Life Science degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of direct sales experience
  • Experience selling to the High Purity, Pharmaceutical, or Biotech industry preferred.
  • Any Life Science or R&D sales experience such as lab equipment or supplies is also very desirable.
  • Proven professional selling skills
  • Strong qualification and closing skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening skills
  • A demonstrable track record of sales success
  • Strong relationship skills
  • Highly motivated with focused ambition and drive
  • Proficient in MS Office Products
